DAVID LEE GIBBS is a former fine artist and graphic designer who has spent over eight years honing his craft as a writer of historical fiction. Fascinated by his own ancestry, a 2007 DNA study revealed that his most ancient male ancestors likely came from the Middle East—possibly we’re Phoenicians. This discovery led to years of research into the rich but often overlooked history of these ancient seafarers. His deep dive into their culture, trade, and influence across the Mediterranean inspired The Lion Slayer, the first in a planned series chronicling the Phoenicians’ expansion from their homeland to Africa, Spain, England, and eventually the Colonial New World. Born in St. Louis, David spent most of his life in Southern California before retiring to Northern Texas, where he now lives and continues to write.
